Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani - Ahli falak Nusantara

BARANGKALI ramai yang menyangka bahawa hanya sedikit sekali ulama dunia Melayu yang ahli atau pakar dalam disiplin ilmu falak. Ak- hir-akhir ini sebahagian besar seminar mengenai falak di Malaysia yang sangat ditonjolkan ialah Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin dan Syeikh Abdullah Fahim. Oleh itu melalui Ruangan Agama, Utusan Malaysia, terbitan yang lalu saya cuba memperkenalkan Raja Muhammad Sa'id bin Raja Muhammad Tahir Riau, sebagai intelektual dan ulama yang ahli dalam bidang falak, yang mendahului kedua-dua ulama yang berasal dari Minangkabau (Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin) dan Patani (Syeikh Abdullah Fahim) itu. Artikel ini pula memperkenalkan intelektual dan ulama yang ahli dalam bidang falak, yang sezaman dengan Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin dan Syeikh Abdullah Fahim.

Ulama ahli falak dunia Melayu yang diriwayatkan ini, nama lengkapnya ialah Kiyai Muhammad Shalih bin Syeikh Abdur Rahman Gudang bin Muhammad Ali bin Ismail al-Fathani. Menurut riwayat, beliau dilahirkan di atas kapal di Sabang, di bahagian utara Aceh. Tarikh tepat kelahiran belum diketahui. Nasab dari sebelah lelaki yang dapat dijejaki ialah berasal dari Patani. Berdasarkan tulisan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih bahawa beliau berasal dari Kampung Cabang Tiga Patani. Diriwayatkan pula nasab yang lebih ke atas adalah berasal daripada salah seorang keturunan raja di Aceh. Berdasarkan tulisan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih juga bahawa beliau tinggal di beberapa tempat, iaitu di Mekah, Johor, Kampung Sawah, Tanjung Karang (Sumatera Selatan), Bengkalis (Riau), Ranai, Bunguran Timur, Tanjung Pinang (Riau) dan terakhir sekali di Palembang (Sumatera Selatan).

PENDIDIKAN

Dalam bidang khusus tentang falak, ada persamaan riwayat Kiyai Muhammad Shalih jika kita bandingkan dengan riwayat Raja Muhammad Sa'id. Ayah Raja Muhammad Sa'id, bernama Raja Muhammad Tahir Riau adalah seorang ahli falak yang menghasilkan penulisan mengenai ilmu itu, demikian halnya dengan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih. Ayahnya Syeikh 'Abdur Rahman Gudang al -Fathani, juga seorang ahli falak yang menghasilkan penulisan tentang falak.

Kiyai Muhammad Shalih selain mendapat pendidikan ilmu falak daripada ayahnya, beliau juga mendapat pendidikan ilmu-ilmu keislaman yang mendalam daripada ayahnya di Mekah. Oleh itu Kiyai Muhammad Shalih dalam bidang-bidang tertentu juga dianggap sebagai seorang ulama yang pakar. Ilmu-ilmu yang dianggap Kiyai Muhammad Shalih sangat pakar ialah ilmu-ilmu bahasa Arab, seperti nahu, sharaf, balaghah, dan lain-lain. Kerana Kiyai Muhammad Shalih dipandang sangat ahli dalam bidang ilmu-ilmu Arabiah, sebab itulah beliau diminta menjadi guru oleh pihak Kuliyah Al- Attas Johor Bahru, Bahagian Arab mengajar di sekolah Arab yang sangat terkenal di Johor pada zaman itu.

Mengenai Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani mengajar di Kuliyah Al-Attas Johor Bahru, Bahagian Arab pernah dimuat dalam majalah Pengasuh, bilangan 454, 5 Safar 1353 H/17 Mei 1934 M. Setelah Indonesia merdeka (1945), Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani dilantik sebagai pegawai tinggi di Departemen Agama Republik Indonesia, mulai bertugas di Palembang tahun 1948, selanjutnya di beberapa tempat di Riau. Selanjutnya di Palembang lagi, sehingga beliau meninggal dunia di sana.

PENULISAN

Dalam tahun 1980an saya memiliki dan mendapat maklumat beberapa buah karangan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani, ialah Risalah Sullam at-Tarsyid fi Ahkam at-Tajwid, cetakan pertama Anglo Asiatic Press, Singapura, 1932, Almanak Arabi Dan Masehi Buat Selama-Lamanya. Karya ini diselesaikan di Kampung Sawah, Tanjung Karang, Sumatera Selatan pada 18 Safar 1368 H/19 Disember 1948 M. Diterbitkan sendiri oleh penyusunnya ketika tinggal di Bengkalis, Riau pada 17 Julai 1952 M. Dalam karya ini Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani menulis pandangan dan pesan untuk bangsanya, kata beliau, "Hargailah usaha daripada bangsa sendiri". Tulisan beliau pula, "Hargailah tenaga pengetahuan bangsa sendiri."

Sebuah karangan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani yang belum dijumpai, yang pernah diiklan dalam sebuah karya beliau ialah tentang ilmu balaghah. Karya tersebut diberi judul Mabadi al-Balaghah li al-Madrasah al-'Arabiyah. Berdasarkan iklan yang dikeluarkan dapat diketahui bahawa juzuk yang pertama mengandungi ilmu al-ma'ani. Juzuk yang kedua tentang ilmu al-bayan. Juzuk yang ketiga tentang ilmu al-badi.

Ketika diadakan Seminar Ilmu Falak Sheikh Tahir Jalaluddin dan Sheikh Abdullah Fahim: Perintis Ilmu Falak Moden, beberapa karya Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani, koleksi saya telah dipamerkan. Koleksi mengenai ilmu falak mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan terutama bagi para pengkaji ilmu falak. Dalam seminar anjuran Jabatan Mufti Pulau Pinang, Unit Penyelidikan Ilmu Falak & Sains Atmosfera, USM dan Pusat Islam USM, 1 Syaaban 1426 H/5 September 2005 M, di Hotel Gurney, Pulau Pinang itu saya perolehi sebuah karya Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani mengenai falak yang selama ini belum saya miliki. Karya tentang falak yang saya anggap sangat penting itu saya terima daripada salah seorang pemakalah, Baharruddin bin Zainal (Institut Penyelidikan Matematik (INSPEM) Universiti Putra Malaysia). Kepada beliau saya ucapkan terima kasih kerana di samping kajian moden beliau ambil peduli terhadap khazanah yang bercorak klasik yang pernah ditulis oleh ulama kita dunia Melayu. Karya Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani yang dimaksudkan ialah Risalah Durar al-Azman Pada Mengirakan Pang kal Tiap-Tiap Tahun Dan Bulan. Mengenai karya yang tersebut perlu dibahas agak panjang, seperti yang diulas di bawah ini.

Pada halaman pertama setelah judul beliau menggunakan nama Abi 'Abdir Rahman Muhammad Shalih 'Abdur Rahman al-Fathani. Di bawah nama diberi keterangan bahawa beliau adalah Guru Bahagian Bahasa Arab di Sekolah Tinggi atau Kolej Islam Johor Baharu Darul Ta'zim. Pada halaman berikutnya, pada bahagian atas dinyatakan, "Berbahagialah risalah ini dapat dikarang pada masa yang sangat berbahagia Maulana as-Sultan Ibrahim bin al-Marhum as-Sultan Abu Bakar Sultan Johor". Diiringi dengan doa, "Dikekalkan oleh Allah akan kerajaannya selama ada bulan dan bintang, Amin, Amin, Amin". Di bawah kalimat di atas terdapat gambar beliau. Diberi keterangan "Dikemukakan gambar ini supaya kita berkenal-kenalan".

Pada mukadimah Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani, bahawa yang menggalakkan beliau menyusun risalah tersebut ialah al-Mu'allim Ismail 'Umar, Batu Pahat, Sekreteri Kulliah al-'Attas, pada masa Johor diperintah oleh Sultan Ibrahim. Sesudah mukadimah disebut beberapa nama kitab hisab dan falak yang dirujuk, ialah Minhaj al-Qawim Pada Menyatakan Hisab dan Taqwim, al-Fawaid al-Fikriyah, Miftah at-Ta'lim Berkenaan Dengan Hisab Dan Taqwim, Karangan Yang Mulia Raja Muhammad Thahir Bin al-Marhum Raja 'Abdullah al-Falaki, Kitab Syams al-Ma'arif al-Kubra dan Syams al-Fathiyah Berkenaan Dengan A'mal Jaibiyah.

Ada pun rujukan yang berjudul Minhajul Qawim adalah karangan orang tua beliau, iaitu Syeikh 'Abdur Rahman Gudang al-Fathani. Risalah tersebut selesai ditulis pada 14 Ramadan 1310 H/1892 M, ditemui cetakan yang kedua oleh Mathba'ah al-Miriyah, Mekah 1314 H/1896 M. Rujukan yang berjudul Miftah at-Ta'lim adalah karangan Tuan Guru 'Umar brangan Tuan Guru 'Umar bin Ismail Nuruddin Sungai Keladi yang selesai penulisannya di Sungai Keladi, Kota Bharu, Kelantan pada waktu Zuhur, hari Khamis, 18 Zulhijjah 1343 H/9 Jun 1925 M. Cetakan yang pertama Majlis Ugama Islam dan Istiadat Melayu Kelantan, 6 Rejab 1344 H/19 Januari 1926 M. Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin walau pun dikatakan sangat terkenal, namun tidak disentuh oleh Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani. Mengenai ini barangkali kemunculan karangan dalam bentuk buku Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani lebih dulu daripada Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin. Risalah Durar al-Azman Pada Mengirakan Pangkal Tiap-TiapTahun Dan Bulan, karangan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani yang dibicarakan ini diselesaikan pada pagi hari Isnin, 1 Muharam 1353 H/16 April 1934 M bererti mendahului karangan Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin yang berjudul Natijatul 'Umur, selesai penulisan tahun 1355 H/1936 M. Tetapi jika dibandingkan dengan tulisan Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin yang mulai dimuat dalam Natijah terbitan Mathba'ah AI- Ahmadiah, Singapura, tahun 1346 H/1927-1928 M bererti karangan falak Syeikh Tahir Jalaluddin telah mendahului karangan falak Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani.

KETURUNAN

Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani berkahwin pertama kali dengan anak pembesar Kerajaan Siak Seri Inderapura, iaitu anak Datuk Hamzah bin Endut, Bentara Kiri Kerajaan Siak Seri Inderapura. Daripada perkahwinan itu beliau memperoleh empat orang anak; 1. 'Abdur Rahman Shalih al-Fathani. Beliau ini saya jumpa di rumahnya di Jakarta Barat, pada 18 Februari 1986. Selanjutnya adik-adiknya yang dicatatkan di bawah ini adalah berdasarkan yang saya peroleh darpada beliau pada tarikh tersebut di atas. 2. Siti Aisyah Shalih, di Pekanbaru, Riau. 3. Ahmad Bustami Shalih di Bandung. 4. Faridah Kartini Shalih, di Pekanbaru, Riau. Perkahwinan dengan isteri yang berasal dari Palembang, Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani memperoleh anak sebagai yang berikut: 5. Drs. M. Hatta, di Jakarta. 6. Jamal. 7. Farid. 8. Faishal. 9. Hamidah dan 10. Jamilah.

Memperhatikan Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani memperoleh anak sepuluh orang, bererti ramai keturunan beliau di Indonesia. Sedangkan keturunan adik beradik Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani ramai pula di Patani, Malaysia dan Mekah. Hingga artikel ini saya tulis usaha-usaha keluarga ini mencatat nama-nama, tempat tinggal dan pelbagai aktiviti mereka sedang dijalankan. Pada pandangan saya usaha yang demikian adalah termasuk dalam rangka menghubungkan silaturrahim yang dianjurkan oleh agama Islam, apatah lagi terhadap seseorang yang bersejarah. Berdasarkan hadis Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. bahawa menghubungkan silaturrahim termasuk salah satu sebab yang boleh memanjangkan umur seperti juga memperbanyak sedekah dan doa. Demikianlah riwayat Kiyai Muhammad Shalih al-Fathani, ulama besar Nusantara, yang wafat di Palembang, Sumatera Selatan, tarikh kewafatannya belum diketahui.
